GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Frostburg State women's cross country team captured eighth place while the men finished 13th at the Gettysburg College Invitational, on Saturday.
John Hopkins finished in first place for both the men and the women. The Bluejay men captured first with 77 points while the women scored 70.
Leading the women's squad in the 6,000-meters was senior
Jennifer Patton (Barton, Md./Westmar). She finished 14th out of 233 runners with a time of 23:30.35.
Freshman
Anne Patron (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney) placed 24th (23:54.96) while junior
Gwen Massey (Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford) captured 51st (24:37.19).
Rounding out the top five for the women, junior
Christina Aumand (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Huntingtown) finishing 67th (24:53.78) and sophomore Jessica O'Neil (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) captured 108th with a time of 26:11.28.
In the 8,000-meters for the men, senior
Brian Leiter (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) led the way finishing 13th out of 270 runners with a time of 26:17.11.
Freshman
Gavin Caupp (Frostburg, Md./Mt. Ridge) captured 75th (27:29.22) while junior
Dustin Eagle (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) placed 127th (28:20.74).
Finishing fourth for the Bobcat men's squad was freshman
Nick Weddle (Balitmore, Md./Northeast), who placed 139th with a time of 28:40.90. Sophomore
Kevin Wright (Silver Spring, Md./Oakton) finished 189th (29:43.57), giving FSU its fifth finish.
Frostburg State is back in action on November the 1st at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships hosted by Penn State Altoona.
