GIBSONA, Pa. - The Frostburg State women's tennis team placed six individuals on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Conference tennis team.
Senior
Sarah Eisel (Frostburg, Md./Beall) and sophomore
Vicky Stafford (Lee, N.H./Oyster River) earned All-AMCC first team honors after picking up the number one doubles championship title. The duo defeated Penn State Behrend's Christy Calvert and Karen Hobaugh with a score of 8-4 in the finals.
Stafford also was placed on the second team for her second place finish in the number three singles competition. After defeating Penn State Altoona's Lindsay Kromel in the second round (6-2, 6-0), Stafford fell to Stephanie Cattron from PSB with scores of 6-1, 6-3.
Juniors
Becky Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and
Monie Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) received All-AMCC second team honors after finishing runner-up in the number two doubles competition. The duo fell to Penn State Behrend's Arica Christman and Stephanie Cattorn in the finals (8-5).
Senior
Liz Coblentz (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) and junior
Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) earned second team honors for their performance in the number three doubles competition. Coblentz and Shedd finished second in the competition after a loss in the finals to Hillary Lasher and Allison Quigley from Penn State Behrend (8-5).
Shedd also received second team all-conference honors for the number two singles competition. Shedd captured the win over Pitt-Bradford's Renee Total (6-2, 6-2) in the second round but fell to Penn State Behrend's Christy Calvert in the finals (4-6, 6-4, 6-1).
The team finished in second place at the AMCC Championships and completed the season with a 8-8 overall record and a conference record of 5-2.
