Women's Tennis Improves Conference Record to 4-2

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State women's tennis team swept Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford, 9-0, on Sunday. FSU has an overall record of 6-8 and a conference record of 4-2.

Seniors Sarah Eisel (Frostburg, Md./Beall) and Liz Coblentz (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) along with junior Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and sophomore Vicky Stafford (Lee, N.H./Oyster River) all had double wins on the day.

Eisel and Stafford captured their first win in the number one doubles match against Leyla Damas and Kelly O'Brien (8-2). In the number two doubles match, juniors Becky Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and Monie Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) defeated Leslie Shallop and Danielle Williams with a score of 8-1. Shedd and Coblentz picked up the number three doubles victory by forfeit.

Eisel won the number one singles match against Damas (6-1, 6-2) while Shedd defeated O'Brien with scores of 6-0, 6-3 in the number two singles match. Stafford captured her second victory of the day in the number three singles match against Lydine Beauvais (6-0, 6-1).

In the number four singles match, freshman Jannill Sites (Waynesboro, Pa./James Buchanan) defeated Shallop (6-4, 6-2) and in the number five singles match Coblentz won against Williams with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Theresa Mills (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) picked up the number six singles victory by forfeit.
