Men's Soccer Wins Fifth-Straight; Downs Pitt-Bradford, 6-1

FROSTBURG, Md. - Six different players netted a goal as the Frostburg State men's soccer team defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford, 6-1, for its fifth consecutive win on senior day, Saturday afternoon.

FSU (10-6-1, 6-3) dominated UPG (3-12, 2-6) in shots (26-4) and led 8-3 in corner kicks.

Freshman Dillon Muise (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) scored the first goal of the game just over six minutes into the first half to put the Bobcats on the board, 1-0.

A little over six minutes later, senior Mike Bowers (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) fed an assist to classmate Sean Jones (Pasadena, Md./Severna Park) who netted his fifth goal of the season, giving Frostburg State a two-point advantage over the Panthers, 2-0.

At 15:31, Toby Abdul-Razaq scored an unassisted goal to cut the Panther deficit to only one-point, 2-1. Just over a minute later, the Bobcats would strike back as Bowers netted a goal off an assist from senior Michael Foucault (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville), 3-1.

Senior Chris Mumby (Ellicot City, Md./Mt. Hebron) scored the fifth goal of the game on a penatly kick to put Frostburg State up by three, 4-1, at the 18:37 mark. Just over three mintues later, senior Steven Jacobsen (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) helped to enlarge the Bobcat lead to four points after netting a goal off an assist from Jones, 5-1.

At 22:03, senior Ricky Marchant (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) scored his seventh goal of the season off a free kick to give Frostburg State a five-point advantage over the Panthers, 6-1, which it would carry into the break.

Despite FSU posting 11 shots in the second half, neither of the teams' offense were unable to net a goal, giving the end score 6-1.

Frostburg State junior goalkeeper Stephen Cavallo (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln) posted three saves in his ninth win of the season while UPG goalie Peter Fay suffered the loss with seven saves.

FSU returns to the field when it travels to AMCC opponent Franciscan on October 27 at 3:00 pm.
