GIBSONIA, Pa. - For the third-consecutive year, Frostburg State University standout volleyball senior Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) was named the Player of the Year for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference as released by the league office Tuesday. She highlights four all-conference selections; two on both the first and second teams.

Winterling becomes just the second indivdual in league history to capture the Player of the Year award three times and is the third player in school history to earn First Team All-AMCC honors four times. She has led the conference in kills in each of her four years and has 551 so far this season, over 200 more than the next closest player. She is third in the country in kills per set, averaging 4.62 and has helped the Bobcats to 29th in the country in kills per set as a team (12.63). Winterling is FSU's all-time career kills leader (2,180) and has 1,088 digs and 160 service aces to her credit.

Joining Winterling on the all-conference first team is junior Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett). This is the second-straight year Stephens has earned a spot on the All-AMCC first team. She is second in the AMCC in total kills (345), trailing on Winterling, is third in kills per set (3.17) and is sixth in hitting percentage (.270). Stephens is fifth all-time in FSU history in kills with 1,068.

Sophomores Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) and Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) were named to the all-conference second team and round out the four Bobcats on this year's list.

Carrington is now a two-time Second Team All-AMCC honoree and has led the league in assists in both years at FSU. This season, Carrington has handed out 1,172 assists, good for fourth all-time in school history in a single-season and she currently ranks 28th in the country in assists per set (10.24). In her two years, she has amassed 2,304 assists.

Sabrina Winterling had a breakout season this fall for the Bobcats. While just fifth on the team in kills (130), Winterling takes advantage of her opportunities at the net, leading the conference in hitting percentage (.340) from her middle hitter position. She also led the Bobcats in totals blocks (57) and assisted blocks (54).

The four all-conference selections this year raise Frostburg State's total to 43 in the 13-year existence of the AMCC. Former FSU volleyball greats Shannon Rexrode and Lauren Petrick earned First Team All-AMCC honors four times while Petrick is the only other player in league history to win the Player of the Year honor three times.

The Frostburg State volleyball teams kicks off 2009 NCAA Tournament action on Thursday, November 12 when it takes Eastern at Juniata College at 12:30 pm.
