Men's Tennis Slips Past Penn State Altoona, 5-4

ALTOONA, Pa. - Three players picked up two wins on the day as the Frostburg State men's tennis team slipped past Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Altoona, 5-4, Tuesday.

Senior Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown), freshman Mike Stevenson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Mike Hurst each had two victories against PSA as the team improved its overall record to 7-6 and its conference record to 5-3.

Shedd and Stevenson picked up their first victory in the number one doubles match against Steve James and Thomas Van Antwerp with a score of 8-3. In the third doubles competition, freshman Steve French (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Hurst defeated Pat Bloom and Justin Hess for the victory (8-5).

Shedd won against James in the No. 1 singles match (6-0, 6-3) while Stevenson defeated Van Antwerp for his second win in the number two singles competition (6-2, 6-2).

In the number six singles match, Hurst picked up the victory against Jon Pinghey with scores of 6-2, 6-3.

FSU is back in action at home against Hood tomorrow, April 15 at 3:00 pm.
