FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State baseball landed six players on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Conference Teams, Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Trevor Conner (Dharhan, Saudi Arabia/Kent School) and junior
Andrew Derr (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) led the way as First Team selections as each was the top in their respective categories for the Bobcats.
Conner led all FSU and AMCC pitchers with a 1.76 ERA and a dismal opponent batting average of .212. He also led in walks (3) and earned runs allowed (10). Conner made his mark in the FSU record books this season as he tied the single season mark for winning percentage as he didn't drop a game this season. His eight wins also move him in a tie for sixth overall, while his ERA will hold the seventh spot all-time.
Derr led the Bobcats with a .398 batting average, which was seventh overall in the conference. His .551 on-base percentage was consistently ranked among the top in the NCAA rankings. Derr was also the best defensive catcher in the AMCC finishing the season with no errors behind the plate and only two overall in 129 chances.
Junior
Jeff Kroboth (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) made his second-straight appearance on the Second Team after leading the Bobcats with 25 stolen bases, which is good enough to move into eighth place in the FSU single-season record books. Kroboth finished the season third on the team with a .361 batting average in 119 at-bats. He also found the record books for a not so glamourous stat of being hit by a pitch 14 times this season; taking sole possession of second place in a single season.
Three players made their first appearances as All-AMCC selections with Honorable Mention honors as juniors
Joe Garrity (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and
Freddy Foshay (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) were joined by freshman
Pat Sapp (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy).
Garrity was one of two players to play in all 40 games this season, while splitting time between right field and designated hitter. He finished the season with a .338 batting average in a team-high 139 attempts. Garrity led all FSU starters with a .554 slugging percentage as he recorded a spot in the Bobcat record books with 15 doubles on the season, which is tied for eighth overall in a single season.
Foshay led the Bobcat pitching staff this season on and off the field with a team-high 10 starts and 11 overall appearances. He was second in the AMCC by allowing opposing batters to hit just .222. Foshay led FSU with 53.2 innings pitched and managed a 4-2 record with a 4.36 ERA.
Sapp was the lone FSU freshman to grab an honor as he finished second on the team with a .381 batting average. He also led the team with four triples, 27 walks, 48 hits and 108 assists this season. Sapp was third on the team with 18 stolen bases as he accounted for 27 runs in 39 games played this season.
