CAPE COD, Mass. - One day after losing in the AMCC Tournament Championship, the Frostburg State softball team learned that it's season isn't over yet as it has earned the fifth and final seed in the 2009 ECAC Division III South Softball Championships and will face Misericordia in the opening round on Wednesday, May 6.

The Bobcats (26-17), who are making just their second-ever trip to the ECAC Tournament and first since 2004, square off against the No. 4 seed Cougars (25-14) in just the second-ever meeting between the two schools. Coincidentally, the only other meeting between the squads came in the ECAC Tournament in 2004, with Misericordia winning 6-2.

After the opening round game, the double-elimination portion of the tournament will run through host and top seed Juniata (24-11). The Eagles await the winner of the Frostburg/Misericordia on Saturday, May 9 at 10:00 am. No. 2 seed Centenary (24-12) will face No. 3 Bethany (23-19) on Saturday at noon, while the winners of both contests will square off at 4:00 pm with the losers playing at 2:00 pm.

FSU, winner of five of its last seven contests, will look to duplicate its run to the AMCC title game. The Bobcats entered the league championship as the sixth and final seed, and after losing their opening round game, won four in a row to advance to the championship. Frostburg State will look to surprise teams in the ECAC Tournament after earning the final spot as well.
