BOX SCORE

ERIE, Pa. –
The Frostburg State baseball team was bounced from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament Saturday afternoon with a 12-4 loss to No. 3 seed Penn State Altoona.

The Lions (30-16) jumped out to a fast 9-1 lead after six innings of play in extremely windy conditions at Behrend Field. FSU (25-15) strung together single runs in the seventh and eighth innings as junior Andrew Derr (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) and senior Mike Jester (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson) each drove home an RBI.

Penn State Altoona responded in the top of the ninth with three unearned runs off reliever Zach O’Dell (White Plains, Md./Henry E. Lackey) as the Lions took advantage of two errors in the inning.

The Bobcats added another run in the bottom of the ninth as Derr scored on a Joe Garrity (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) sacrifice fly.

Junior Freddy Foshay (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) suffered the loss in the contest as he allowed six runs in 3.2 innings of work, while recording three strikeouts.

Frostburg State will wait to hear about postseason play with all playoff information being available at www.frostburgsports.com.
