FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State swimming teams won 14 of the combined 22 events on their way to a sweep of Hood College, Saturday afternoon. 

Results

Five swimmers captured a pair of victories each, including four on the men's side as the Bobcat men's team won 108-67 and the women captured a 79-69 victory.

Senior Jack Hudson (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) and freshmen Trevor Kozlow (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake), Caleb Stair (Hyndman, Pa./Hyndman) each captured two wins. Hudson won the 400 (4:56.03) and 800-meter freestyles (10:17.87), Kozlow won the 100-meter backstroke (1:09.56) and the 200-meter individual medley (2:22.88), while Stair won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:16.30) and the 100-meter butterfly (1:03.55). Hudson, Kozlow and Stair teamed with freshman Bob Norr (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) for a victory in the 200-meter medley relay (2:06.32).

On the women's side, senior Thirza Roberto (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) captured victories in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:28.33) and 100-meter backstroke (1:16.04) and later swam the anchor leg of the winning 200-meter freestyle relay team (2:04.13). Freshman Sam Mulvey (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) earned wins in the 50 (30.99) and 100-meter freestyles (1:11.74).

Mulvey and Roberto joined freshmen Jessica Rice (Grasonville, Md. / Kent Island) and Erica Minor (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) in the 200-meter freestyle relay to capture first-place with a time of 2:04.13, securing the win for the Bobcat women.

Rice also placed first in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 11:18.09.

The Bobcats are back in the pool when they travel to Bethany on January 20 for a 6:00 pm contest.
