HAMBURG, N.Y. – Four players scored in double figures and the Frostburg State women’s basketball team ended a small two-game losing skid as it blew past Hilbert 66-33, Saturday afternoon.

Box Score

The Bobcats (11-4, 8-2) raced out to a 10-point edge (12-2) just under six minutes into action and never looked back. The Hawks (0-14, 0-9) narrowed the gap to inside 10 points on several occasions, but FSU collected a 14-3 run to close out the first half with a 32-13 halftime lead.

Frostburg State pushed its lead to 20 points, 37-17, just over four minutes into the second half. FSU later extended its advantage to a game-high 36-points before settling on a 33-point victory. It’s the fifth lowest scoring output of the season for HC.

The Bobcat defense set the tone early on, holding the Hawks to just 13 points on five baskets in the opening half. Hilbert finished 12-of-43 shooting, a dismal 27.9 percent from the field.

Frostburg State outrebounded Hilbert 56-31 and held a 20-2 lead in second chance points. FSU also converted 29 Hilbert turnovers into 28 points.

Junior Elizabeth Carrington (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) led three starters in double figures with 13 points, followed by classmate Lisa Byer (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh (Allegany College)) with 11 and senior Brittany James (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) with 10. Freshman Elizabeth Erickson (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood Antis) came off the bench to add 10 points and tie for the team lead with eight boards.
