Swimming Splits With Bethany

BETHANY, WVa. - The Frostburg State Swimming teams collected 12 individual first-place finishes as the men's squad defeated Bethany College, 108-43, and the women were edged out by the Bison, 93.5-72.5, Wednesday evening. 

Results

Sophomore Michael Stevenson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and freshmen Trevor Kozlow (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) and Caleb Stair (Hyndman, Pa./Hyndman) along with senior Jack Hudson (Gaithersburg, Md., Gaithersburg) all captured two individual first-place finishes for the Bobcat men's squad.

Stevenson finished in first-place in the 50-yard freestyle (24.28) and 100-yard freestyle (53.44) while Kozlow placed first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.46) and 100-yard backstroke (1:00.20). Stair captured first-place in the 100-yard butterfly (57.88) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.80) and Hudson picked up his wins in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:04.64) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:22.23).

Sophomore Ward Stevenson (Worton, Md./Kent County) also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.36. In the 400-yard medley relay, Kozlow, Stair and Mike Stevenson joined freshman Bob Norr (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) to capture first-place with a time of 4:02.70.

On the women's side, senior Thirza Roberto (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) recorded two first-place finishes, one in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.18) and the other in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.78.

Freshman Erica Minor also posted a win for the women in the 200-yard individual medley when she touched the wall with a time of 2:37.50.

Roberto and Minor teamed up with freshmen Jessica Rice (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) and Sam Mulvey (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) to finish first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.82.

The Bobcats are back in the pool when it travels to Arlington, Va. for a tri-match with Galluadet and Marymount on January 22 at 6:00 pm.
