ARLINGTON, Va. - Senior
Thirza Roberto (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and freshman
Trevor Kozlow (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) each picked up two individual wins as the Frostburg State Swimming teams competed against Marymount and Gallaudet, Friday evening.
Results
The men's squad defeated Gallaudet (58-37) but fell to Marymount (56-38) while the women's squad was defeated by both GU (52-43) and MC (63-28).
Kozlow captured his wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.45) and the 100-yard backstroke (59.61) while Roberto picked up her wins in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.01) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.26).
In the 100-yard breaststroke, freshman
Caleb Stair (Hyndman, Pa./Hyndman) touched the wall in first-place with a time of 1:06.81. Stair also finished in second-place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.52.
Picking up individual second-place finishes for the Bobcats were senior
Jack Hudson (Gaithersburg, Md., Gaithersburg) and freshman
Jessica Rice (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island). Hudson captured second-place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.86) while Rice finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle (13:01.68).
Roberto and Rice were joined by freshman Erica Minor and
Sam Mulvey (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) to place first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:51.95.
In the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, junior
Justin Zimmerman (LaVale, Md./Allegany), sophomore
Ward Stevenson (Worton, Md./Kent County) and freshman
James Hibbert (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) teamed up with Hudson to capture first-place with a time of 1:44.41, edging out Gallaudet by .11.
The Bobcats are back in the pool tomorrow January 23 at York College for a 1:00 pm contest.
