FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State used a 14-5 run to start the second half and break open a close game on its way to a 75-53 victory over Penn State Altoona in AMCC men's basketball action, Wednesday evening. The win handed head coach Webb Hatch his 300th career win spanning both the high school and collegiate levels.

Box Score

It's the second-straight victory for the Bobcats (11-6, 8-5) who opened a double-digit lead just over three minutes into the second half and never looked back.

Junior Steven Ogg (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) led FSU with 16 points and three steals while junior Terrance Taylor (Oxon Hill, Md./Cornerstone Christian) came off the bench to score 11. Senior Nick Sefcik (Shady Grove, Md./Damascus) took full advantage of his game-high 35 minutes and turned in one of his best all-around efforts of the season. He scored 15 points, including three second half 3-pointers, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, handed out five assists and had two steals.

Frostburg State led by as many 19 points just before the midway point of the second half and Sefick hit a deep three with less than a minute to go in regulation to put the Bobcats up 24 (75-51).

The FSU defense limited Penn State Altoona (8-11, 6-8) to just 20 baskets (20-of-52), including nine in the second half of play. The Bobcats also forced 21 turnovers.

The first half was much closer as the lead changed hands eight times. FSU led by five points twice and led by three at halftime (30-27) thanks to a junior Jamal Bracken (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) layup with two seconds left.

Lorenzo Carter scored a game-high 19 points for the Lions while Kirk Peters added 17 points and nine rebounds.

Frostburg State returns to action on Saturday, January 30 at Penn State Behrend at 3:00 pm.
