FREDERICK, Md. - The Frostburg State men's basketball team lost its third game of the season as it fell to non-conference opponent Hood College, 53-51, Monday evening.

HC (7-4) jumped to an early nine-point lead over FSU (7-3), 9-0, less than four minutes into the game, which was ended with a jumper from Tyler Snoots.
The Blazers led by as much as 13 points throughout the first half but the Bobcats were able to cut the deficit to three with just over a minute left in play after a layup from sophomore
Bradley Nunn (Ft. Washington, Md./Riverdale Baptist), 25-22. J'Air Bradley netted a jumper with 46 seconds left in the half to give HC a five-point advantage over Frostburg State going into the break, 27-22.
In the second half, FSU came out strong posting seven consecutive points within the first three minutes to gain its first lead of the game, 27-29, following a three-pointer from sophomore
Mac Minturn (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) off an assist from junior
Steven Ogg (Arlington, Va./Yorktown).
The two teams continued to trade points as the game was tied four times throughout the remainder of the second half with the last coming at the 1:16 mark when Brenden Straughn netted a three-pointer to tie the game at 49-49.
The Blazers took the lead after Tory Wilson netted a layup off an assist from Straughn with 36 remaining in play, 51-49. Straughn netted two of four free throws to give Hood the victory over FSU and end score of 53-51.
Junior
Terrance Taylor (Oxon Hill, Md./Cornerstone Christian) led the Bobcats with 12 points while Ogg pulled down a team-high of nine rebounds in the loss.
Straughn posted a game-high 15 points while Wilson and Snoots each had six rebounds for Hood College in the win.
Frostburg State is back on the floor on January 6 when it plays Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Franciscan at 8:00 pm in Bobcat Arena.
