Kozlow Picks Up Second Conference Title on Day Two of the AMCC Swimming Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. - Freshman Trevor Kozlow (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) picked up his second conference title as the Frostburg men's and women's swimming squads competed on day two of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships at the Grove City Invitational, Friday.

In the men's 400-yard individual medley, Kozlow touched the wall with a time of 4.22.02, a time that was seven seconds faster than in the preliminaries that morning. He captured his second conference title and broke the previous AMCC conference meet record set by Matt Dietrich from Penn State Altoona (4:35.56), while finishing ninth overall.

Kozlow also placed fourth in the conference and 14th overall in the 100-yard backstroke (57.43).

Sophomore Michael Stevenson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) also joined Kozlow in the 400-yard individual medley for a third-place conference finish, placing 18th overall (5:05.11).

Freshman Caleb Stair (Hyndman, Pa./Hyndman) captured third in the AMCC in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.75, after finishing 13th overall.

In the 200-yard medley relay, Kozlow, Stair and Michael Stevenson joined freshman Bob Norr (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) to place fourth in the AMCC and seventh overall with a time of 1:48.34.

Kozlow and Michael Stevenson teamed up with senior Jack Hudson (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) and sophomore Ward Stevenson (Worton, Md./Kent County) to finish in third-place in the conference and seventh overall in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:37.84).

For the women, senior Thirza Roberto (Pasadena, Md./Pasadena) captured second place in the conference in the 100-yard breaststroke, while finishing 14th overall with a time of 1:12.87. Roberto also recorded an AMCC third-place finish and a invitational 11th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.98.

Freshman Jessica Rice (Gransonville, Md./Kent Island) picked up a third-place conference finish in the 400-yard individual medley, finishing 18th overall (5:27.01).

Joining Roberto and Rice in the 200-yard medley relay were freshmen Erica Minor (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) and Samantha Mulvey (Pasadena, Md./Pasadena). The relay team placed third in the conference and eighth at the invitational after touching the wall with a time of 2:06.01.

Roberto, Rice, Mulvey and Minor all joined together in the 800-yard freestyle relay that finished in third-place in the AMCC, 9th overall, with a time of 9:00.39.

The Bobcats are back in the pool for tomorrow, February 20 for the final day of the AMCC Championships at 10:00 am where they will wrap up their season.
