NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Senior
Gwen Massey (Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford) broke her own school record as the Frostburg State men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mason-Dixon Conference Championships, on Saturday. The men placed eighth while the women captured fifth-place.

Salisbury took home the conference title for the men with 106.50 points while the Christopher Newport captured the women's title (147.50).
Massey finished in third-place in the one mile run with a record-breaking time of 5:12.31, qualifying for ECAC Championships and earning all conference honors. The previous school record was held by Massey which she set in 2008 with a time of 5:13.89.
Massy also captured second-place in the 800-meter run, earning Mason-Dixon conference honors with a time of 2:24.72.
Junior
Emily Furr (Damascus, Md./Poolesville) earned all-conference honors in all four events she competed on Saturday. She captured first-place in the high jump (1.56 meters), second-place in the triple jump (11.11 meters), fourth-place in the long jump (5.04 meters) and sixth-place in the pole vault (2.30 meters). Furr also qualified for ECAC Championships in the triple jump.
In the 5,000-meter run, junior
Anne Patron (Baltimore, Md./Dulany) placed third, crossing the line with a time of 18:46.51 and earning all-conference honors.
Senior
Kayla Peters (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) finished in ninth place in the weight throw (11.13 meters) while junior
Danielle Wivell-Wagner (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) captured ninth in the shot put with a mark of 9.25 meters.
For the men, sophomore
Chauncey Manson captured third-place in the 200-meter dash (22.93), qualifying for ECAC Championships and earning all-conference honors.
Sophomore
Gavin Caupp (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) also was awarded Mason-Dixon Conference honors for the men after finishing in third-place in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the line with a time of 16:03.82.
In the 400-meter dash, sophomore
Sean Wright (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) captured seventh-place (52.11) while freshman
Tyler Scruggs (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) placed ninth with a time of 52.47.
Sophomore Charles Jacobs (Baltimore, Md./Aberdeen) crossed the line in eighth-place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.82.
Sophomore
David Thomas captured seventh-place in the long jump with a mark of 6.32 meters while freshman
Christian Smith (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) finished in seventh-place in the shot put (12.56 meters).
Scruggs and Wright were joined by senior
Tarik Muhammad (Pittsville, Md./Riverside) and sophomore
Markese Hayden (Taneytown, Md.Francis Scott Key) to place fourth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:30.77.
The Bobcats return to action on March 12-13 when they travels to DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships.
