Men's Basketball Faces Top Seed Medaille in AMCC Tournament Semifinals

FROSTBURG, Md. - In a rematch of last year's AMCC Tournament semifinal matchup, the Frostburg State men's basketball team will again face host and top seed Medaille in the semi's of this year's tournament. The two teams will square off against one another on Friday night at 6:00 pm in Buffalo, N.Y.
The fourth seeded Bobcats (17-8) earned a spot in the semi's after downing No. 5 seed Mt. Aloysius on Tuesday night 89-81 at Bobcat Arena. FSU travels to Medaille riding a five-game winning streak and looks to avenage two regular-season losses to the Mavericks.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks (21-4) slide into the semifinals having lost three of their final four games, including back-to-back losses to close out the regular season. However, Medaille is 12-1 at home this season and 24-3 at home over the last two years.

Frostburg enters the contest with four players averaging double figures. Junior Brian Anderson (Perry Hall, Md./Eastern Tech) leads the team in scoring at 13.4 ppg, followed junior Steven Ogg (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) at 11.4.

Senior Nick Sefcik (Shady Grove, Md./Damascus) averages 11.1 ppg and leads the team with 4.04 assists per game while junior Busha Koffa (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) averages 11.0 ppg and leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per contest.

The other semifinal game is a rematch from last year as well as second seeded Pitt-Bradford (16-10) and third seeded Penn State Behrend (18-7) square off. Behrend defeated Bradford both times during the regular season but UPB eliminated PSB from the tournament last year with a 62-54 win.

The AMCC championship match is scheduled for Saturday, February 26 at 3:30 pm. The AMCC Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid the NCAA Division III Tournament.

7:00 pm - No. 2 Pitt-Bradford defeated No. 7 Pitt-Greensburg - 77-63
8:00 pm - No. 4 Frostburg State defeated No. 5 Mt. Aloysius - 89-81

Semifinals: Friday, February 26 - at Medaille
6:00 pm: Frostburg State vs. No. 1 Medaille
8:00 pm: Pitt-Bradford vs. Penn State Behrend

Championship: Saturday, February 27 at 3:30 pm - at Medaille
