DOVER, Del. – The Frostburg State women’s lacrosse team used seven second-half goals to defeat Wesley College, 13-8, Saturday afternoon. The Bobcat defense was able to hold the WC offense to only two goals in the second half to aid in the win.

The game was tied five times in the first-half with the last coming with 31 seconds left until the break when WC’s Alyssa Prudente netted an unassisted goal for a score of 6-6 going into the second half.
In the second half, FSU used a 3-0 scoring run over the first eight minutes of play to take the lead, 9-6, aided by goals from seniors
Elisabeth Hildebrand (Frederick, Md. Walkersville) and
Ali Zinnel (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) as well as a goal from junior
Megan Dent-Carman (LaVale, Md./Mercersburg Academy).
Wesley brought the score within one point after two-consecutive free-position goals from Mia Brocco (21:41) and Prudente (16:45), 9-8.
Frostburg State posted a four-goal scoring spurt in the remaining minutes in the game to bust open the lead to five points and give the end score 13-8.
Hildebrand netted the first goal with just over 11 minutes left in regulation, 10-8. At the 9:16 mark, sophomore
Ali Kapustin (Columbia, Md./Marriotts Ridge) netted her first unassisted goal of the game and chipped in her second goal just over a minute later to give the Bobcats a four-point advantage over WC, 12-8.
With 1:15 left in the game, freshman
Colleen Hoffman (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) netted her second goal of the game off a free position shot to give the end score 13-8.
Hildebrand, Kapustin, Hoffman and sophomore
Joanna McIntire (Damascus, Md./Damascus) all scored two goals in the win while Dent-Carman, senior
Katie Dannemann (Herdon, Va./Paul VI Catholic) and freshman
Chelsea Feeney (Damascus, Md./Damascus) all recorded one.
Sophomore
Rachel Frank (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) and Kapustin both handed out one assist for the Bobcats.
For Wesley, Prudente had three goals while Jen Jacobs netted two in the loss.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Tori Butts (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) stopped eight shots for her third win of the season and WC goalie Alyssa Batty recorded eight saves in the loss.
Frostburg State returns to the field when it travels to Redlands, Calif. to take on Redlands on March 16 at 7:00 pm.
