Emily Furr (Damascus, Md./Poolesville) and sophomore
David Thomas each qualified for the ECAC Championships to highlight the Frostburg State track & field teams at the Don Frail Invitational, Saturday. The Bobcat men finished fourth overall while the women finished sixth in the team standings.

Furr cleared 1.61 meters in the high jump, good enough for first place and a spot at ECACs. She also finished second in the long jump with an ECAC distance of 11.06 meters and captured third in the 100-meter dash (13.19).
Meanwhile, Thomas won the men's 100-meter dash with an ECAC time of 10.99, 0.18 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. He also captured the win in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.53 meters.
The FSU men also recorded 13 top-5 finishes on the afternoon on their way to the fourth place finish. In the 5,000-meter run, the Bobcats had three runners in the top-5. Senior
Dustin Eagle (Mechanicsville, Md./Trinity) led the way in third place (17:48.09), junior
Nick Tamburrino (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) was fourth (17:55.93) and junior
Nick Weddle (Baltimore, Md./Northeast) was fifth (18:05.08).
Senior
Steve Flanagan (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) was third in the 400-meter hurdles (58.88) and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (17.51). Senior
Garrett Daley (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) was fourth in the 110 hurdles (21.22) and sophomore
Thomas Bennett (Lutherville, Md./Towson) was fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:01.48).
In the 400-meter dash, senior
Tarik Muhammad (Pittsville, Md./Riverside) was runner-up with a 50.28 while sophomore
Sean Wright (Abeerden, Md./Abeerden) was fifth in 51.20. Sophomore
Gavin Caupp (Frostburg, Md./Mt. Ridge) was second in the 1,500-meter run (4:13.27).
The Bobcat men also turned in a strong effort in the field events. Sophomore
Calvin Shriver (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) was third in the pole vault at 3.18 meters and sophomore
Mitchell Hill (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) captured fourth in the long jump at 5.85 meters. Senior
Aaron Scanlon (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) rounded out the field events with a fifth place showing in the javelin throw (42.08m).
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Wright, Muhammad, Flanagan and sophomore
Markese Hayden (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) were third in 3:25.73, just 1.73 seconds off the ECAC Championship time.
On the women's side, sophomore
Amy Brennan (Fort Washington, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) captured three top-10 finishes. She was fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:02.68), fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.30) and finished seventh in the 200-meter dash (27.50).
Senior
Christina Aumand (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Huntingtown) finished seventh in the 1,500-meter run in 5:23.12 and senior
Kayla Peters (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) was seventh in the shot put with a distance of 11.06 meters.
The Frostburg State track & field teams are at the Mason-Dixon Invitational next Saturday on the campus of Gettysburg College.
