FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State men's tennis team fell to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Altoona, 5-4, Monday afternoon.
Frostburg State slips to an overall record of 7-6 and a conference record of 5-4.
Sophomores
Michael Stevenson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and
Eddie McMurtrie (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) each had two wins in the loss for the Bobcats.
In the No. 1 doubles match, Stevenson teamed up with junior
Ramon Gutierrez (Gilbert, Ariz./West Ferris Secondary School) to pick up the win against Nick Navarre and Steven Dull (8-5). McMurtrie's first win came in the number two doubles competition when he and sophomore
Tyler Forster (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) defeated Kyle Yerty and Steve James with a score of 8-6.
Stevenson took home his second win of the day in the first singles match after winning against Navarre (6-2, 6-2) while McMurtrie defeated Yerty in the No. 3 singles competition with scores of 6-0, 6-1.
Gutierrez also dropped a hard fought match against Dull in the number two singles competition, losing with scores of 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
