GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Frostburg State men's tennis team swept Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg, 9-0, Tuesday afternoon.
Junior
Ramon Gutierrez (Gilbert, Ariz./West Ferris Secondary School (Gilbert CC)), sophomores
Eddie McMurtrie (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) and
Michael Stevenson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) along with freshman
Christian Ernst (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) all captured two victories in the win for Frostburg State (8-6, 6-4).
In the No. 1 doubles match, Stevenson and Gutierrez defeated Tomas Hric and Navid Pourarian (8-1) while McMurtrie teamed up with sophomore
Tyler Forster (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) to pick up the win against Matt Huttenlock and James Begley in the number two doubles competition (8-2).
Ernst and freshman
Zach Repp (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) won against Eric Uzarski and John Kuzinar in the No. 3 doubles match with a score of 8-1.
Stevenson picked up his second win of the day in the number one singles match when he defeated Hric (6-1, 6-1) while Gutierrez recorded his second win the No. 2 singles competition when he won against Pourarian with scores of 6-2, 6-0.
In the third singles match, McMurtrie defeated Huttenlock (6-1, 6-0) and Ernst posted his second win the No. 4 singles competition when he won against Begley with scores of 6-1, 6-0.
Junior
Josh Galvez (Adelphi, Md./Montgomery Blair) picked up the victory against Uzarski in the No. 5 singles competition (6-1, 6-0) while sophomore
Paul Rooke (North East, Md./North East) took home the win in the sixth singles match, defeating Tom Bristol with scores of 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (8).
