FROSTBURG, Md. - The 2010 Frostburg State women's soccer schedule has been released as the Bobcats move into the Capital Athletic Conference action and transition out of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

The Bobcats are coming off their most successfull season in 2009 with 18 wins. The 2010 squad will return both the AMCC Player of the Year, junior Lauren Russell (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) and the Rookie of the Year, freshman Amanda Wharton (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll). The duo helped FSU to its sixth conference championship.

FSU opens its season playing three NCAA tournament teams within the first five games and will play three seperate conference champions on the season. Catholic University was the Landmark Conference champion and Christopher Newport took the USA South title. Virginia Wesleyan was the Old Dominion Conference regular season winner though lost in the ODAC tournament championship game in a shootout to Washington & Lee and captured an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. The final conference champion on the schedule this season for the Bobcats is Mary Washington, which took the CAC title.

The Bobcats, who enter their 17th season and ninth under the direction of Brian Parker, open their season as it hosts Eastern Mennonite on Sept. 1. The Bobcats will then travel to Germantown, Md. to take on Catholic University at the Maryland Soccerplex in conjunction with the Thunder Soccer Club Thunderfest Tournament. Frostburg State then kicks off CAC play traveling to Hood as it tries push the all-time series to 4-0, in favor of the Bobcats.

Frostburg State will take a break from conference play in early September to go to the Christopher Newport Tournament taking on Christopher Newport and Virginia Wesleyan before hosting three-straight games in Bobcat Stadium. The Bobcats open the homestand with St. Vincent and then bring in Juniata in a rematch of last season's 2-1 defeat. CAC opponent Marymount will cap off the homestand for Frostburg State, as the Bobcats look for their fourth-straight win over the Saints.

FSU travels to Fredericksburg, Va. at the end of September to take on last season's CAC tournament champion, Mary Washington. UMW is one of only two teams to have a winning record against FSU, the other being fellow CAC contender, Salisbury.

To end the month of September and kick off October, the Bobcats will host four-straight, with two conference games in the mix. McDaniel comes to Frostburg, Md. to kick off the homestand with a night game on Sept. 28. Conference opponent, York will meet with FSU for the first time ever to open the month of October. Former conference opponent, Pitt-Greensburg will travel to Frostburg, Md. for a mid-week contest under the lights. FSU has proven to be successful against UPG, leading the all-time series 9-2. Frostburg State wraps up the homestand with a conference game against Wesley, who was knocked out of the CAC tournament in the first round last season by York.

The Bobcats take their game on the road for a quick trip to Ownings Mills, Md. to take on CAC opponent, Stevenson. FSU has proven to be tough competition for the Mustangs leading the all-time series 13-2-1. Frostburg State returns home to host another CAC opponent, St. Mary's on Oct. 16 at 12:00 pm.

Frostburg State will wrap up the month of October and regular season play with a two-game road trip starting in Altoona, Pa. to take on former AMCC rival, Penn State Altoona. FSU finishes the regular season with CAC competition against Salisbury in Salisbury, Md.
