FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State baseball team captured the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season title with a split of league rival Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon, taking the first game 15-0 though dropping the second 8-3.

With the first game win, the Bobcats (28-11, 16-4) won their sixth league regular season title, the last one coming in 2007.
FSU wasted no time in game one getting on the scoreboard first as senior
Jeff Kroboth (Nazareth Pa./Nazareth Area) walked to lead off and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch.
The Lions (26-13, 15-5) threatened in the top of the third loading the bases with one out, but junior pitcher
Britton Quayle (Severna Park, Md./Severna (Anne Arnudel)) managed to pitch himself out of the inning with a strikeout and getting the last batter to pop out to classmate

The Bobcats added another run in the bottom of the second with a leadoff homerun from sophomore
Doug Anuszewski (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) to take the lead 2-0. FSU added eight runs in the bottom of the third to seal the victory. With the bases loaded, Anuszewski reached on an infield single to score junior
Matt Greene (Westminster, Md./South Carroll (Hagerstown)). Schuler followed with a two-run single to left to bring home seniors
Joe Garrity (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) and
Matt Ridenour (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown (Sheperd)). Sophomores
Adam Summerfelt (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and
Daniel Jester (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson) hit back-to-back RBI doubles to plate the seventh and eighth runs of the game. Kroboth singled to right center to bring home Jester and Summerfelt and Greene singled to center to bring home Kroboth for the last run of the inning. The Bobcats led 10-0 after three innings.
Frostburg State plated two more runs in the fourth on a sac fly from Jester and a RBI single from Kroboth followed with three more runs in the fifth on a three-run homerun to centerfield from Schuler. The Bobcats took the 15-0 lead for the final score.
Quayle pitched 6.1 strong innings, scattering just four hits and three walks while striking out four. The righthander is now a perfect 8-0 on the season. Junior
Spenser Madsen (Easton, Md./St. Michaels) pitched the final two outs of the game.
The FSU bats were quieted in the second game, scoring only three runs, all of which coming in the bottom of the second inning. After trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the second, Garrity sinlged to left center and advanced to second on a balk. With two outs, Summerfelt doubled down the right field line to bring home Garrity and tie the game at one. Junior
Corey Carr (McHenry, Md./Northern Garrett (Garrett)) singled to left to drive home Summerfelt. Kroboth drove home the last run of the inning for the Bobcats with a RBI single to right center that scored Carr.
The Lions answered back with four runs in the top of the third to re-take the lead back 5-3 and added two more in the fifth and one in the seventh to take the game 8-3. Senior
Greg Beachy (Grantsville, Md./Nothern Garrett) took the loss for the Bobcats going 4.2 innings, giving up seven runs, six earned, on eight hits and four walks while striking out three.
Schuler finished the day going a combined 5-for-7 with five RBIs and three runs scored.
The Bobcats wrap up regular season play on Tuesday, May 4 when they host No. 21 Washington and Jefferson at Bob Wells Field with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30 pm.
