FROSTBURG, Md. - Junior
Anne Patron (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney) of the Frostburg State women's track & field and cross country teams has been honored by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA). The Bobcat distance runner has been named to the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II second team.
The District II region includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
Patron helped the Bobcat cross country team to a runner-up finish at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships in the fall. She finished fourth in 24:50 to earn her second-straight All-AMCC award. A week later, Patron was named to the NCAA Division III Mideast All-Region team after finishing 22nd (22:44.6) at the regional championships in Bethlehem, Pa.
During the indoor track & field season, Patron captured fifth-place and set the FSU school record in the 5,000-meter run at the Bison Open at Bucknell University, a predominantly NCAA Division I meet. This spring during the outdoor season, Patron won the 10,000-meter run (37:46.44) and qualified for the ECAC Championships at the Tuppeny Last Chance Meet at Swarthmore College.
Patron is a two-time All-AMCC Academic recipient and garnered U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors following the cross country season. She carries a 3.96 grade point average and is a exercise and sports science major.
