In 2011, the Bobcats finished with a 28-15 record and an 11-7 record in their first year in the Capital Athletic Conference. Frostburg won the CAC Tournament to advance to the NCAA Regional for the first time since 2007. They were eliminated by the eventual NCAA Champions, Marietta College, 7-2.
The Bobcats received only one vote in the poll, but with a loaded schedule that features six teams currently ranked or receiving votes, the team has the opportunity to move steadily up the rankings.
Frostburg will be tested early as they face No. 25 Birmingham-Southern in their first weekend of the season on February 19 at the Methodist Tournament. The Bobcats travel to conference rival Salisbury, who opens the season at No. 9, for a weekend three-game series on March 10 and 11. Defending champion Marietta opens the season as the No. 1 team in the country after receiving all 25 first-place votes. Frostburg travels to Marietta for a non-conference showdown on March 28.
After the CAC Tournament, the Bobcats will face three tough opponents in three days. Frostburg will travel to No. 21 Shenandoah on April 26 and follow that up with a doubleheader at Penn State Altoona the following day. The Bobcats end their three game stretch when they entertain La Roche on April 28 at 4:00 pm.
The Bobcats open their season at Methodist on February 17 at 4:00 p.m. on the first day of the Methodist Tournament.
