Francillon First, Patterson Seventh at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Competing in their first pentathlon of their college careers Frostburg State freshman Devin Francillon won the Ursinus College Multi with 2,854 points, while Alex Patterson finished seventh among eight competitors on Wednesday evening.

Patterson and Francillon finished first and second in the 60-meter hurdles with Patterson (9.51) nudging out Francillon by .01 seconds.  In the second event, Francillon recorded a season-best 19’1¼” in the long jump to finish fifth and Patterson finished seventh (16’8¾”). 

Francillon finished third in the shot put with a throw of 32’5½” and took third again in the high jump (5’6”).  Patterson finished seventh in both events.  Francillon sealed the victory with a win in the 1,000-meter dash (2:59.98), and Patterson was beaten out by .36 seconds for sixth (3:25.85). 

Student assistant coach Dan Block finished sixth overall with his best finish coming in long jump (4th, 19’2 ½”).   

The men’s and women’s track teams continue the indoor portion of their schedule this Friday at the Bucknell University Bison Open & Multi.
