GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Frostburg State University cross country teams journeyed to Gettysburg this Saturday to compete at the 2012 Gettysburg College Invitational.
The men's team finished 21st with 638 points for the Bobcats while the women finished 29th with 863 points.
For the men, Lock Haven brought home the invitational title with 50 points while Bucknell (79) and Shippensburg (122) rounded out the top three places.
Senior Gavin Caupp posted the highest finish for Frostburg with a 52nd place at 27:00. Junior Patrick Mead crossed the finish line at 27:40 to capture 98th place.
Freshman Josh Biser finished 266th with a time of 30:15 while classmate Jeremy Brown wasn't far behind finishing just 19 seconds later at 30:34 to grab 273rd place. Sophomore Jon Stewart came in 292nd with a time of 30:57 before freshmen Ryan Hipps (31:13), Adam Jenkins (31:49), Gregory Horning (32:45) and JT Bowling (33:29) rounded out the scoring runners for FSU.
On the women's side, Shippensburg won the invitational with a commanding 92 points while Gettysburg (118) and Bucknell (127) took second and third.
Sophomore Gabbi Maher captured the top finish for FSU with a 143rd place time at 25:50. Classmate Bryn Allston took 236th with a time of 27:24 while freshman Morgan Carroll crossed the line at 28:29 to post a 276th finish.
Sophomore Amy Brennan finished at 290th at 28:54 while freshmen Sidney Castro (29:36) and Erika Watson (36:29) rounded out the finishers for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats return to competition when they host the CAC Championships at the Maplehurst Country Club in Frostburg, Md. on October 27th.
