Swimming Caps Day One of CAC Championships

ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The Frostburg State women’s 400-yard medley relay team captured fifth place to lead both the men’s and women’s swimming teams after the first day of the CAC Championships, Friday night.

In the evening’s final event, the 400-yard medley relay, the Bobcat women’s team of Autumn Phillips, Maci Quintanilla, Kailtyn Donch and Jaclyn Franzak grabbed fifth place in 4:21.62. Meanwhile, the Bobcat men’s squad of Jeffrey Lewis, Caleb Stair, Jesse Gregory and Jonathan Shepard earned sixth in 3:54.16.

The Bobcat women’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Phillips, Meredith Johnson, Elizabeth Jarrell and Sara King led off the finals on Friday evening with sixth place in 1:48.35.

The FSU men also took sixth in the 200-yard freestyle. Lewis, Stair, Gregory and Jeffrey Page finished with a time of 1:34.96.

In the finals of the 200-yard IM, a pair of Bobcat men finished in the top-16. Stair was 12th in 2:06.35, while Gregory took 16th in 2:15.34. On the women’s side, Johnson captured 14th in the 50-yard freestyle (26.51).

Both Bobcat teams return to the pool tomorrow for the second day of the CAC Championships with the preliminaries at 10:00 am and the finals at 6:00 pm.
