LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Frostburg State men’s track & field team captured ninth place at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Open at Lynchburg College, Saturday. The Bobcats totaled six top-five finishes as they opened the 2013 outdoor season.

Sophomore Devin Francillon posted the highest finish for the men’s team on the afternoon, taking third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.20.
FSU earned two fourth-place finishes; one individual event and one relay team. Sophomore Giovanni Fitch grabbed fourth in the hammer throw (37.55 meters) while the 4x100-meter relay team of Greg Alexander, sophomore Torez Cooke, senior Jason Jackson and Charles Lyles finished fourth in 44.68.
Sophomore Seth Stine captured fifth in the javelin throw at 51.71 meters while freshman Michael Cronauer earned fifth in the high jump (1.86 meters) and seventh in the triple jump (12.48 meters).
Aside from Fitch’s fourth-place showing in the hammer, Frostburg had three throwers post top-10 finishes. Sophomore Curtis Buckland was seventh in the discus (42.09 meters), junior Andre Arthur was ninth in the discus (38.92 meters), while senior Christian Smith was ninth in the shot put (13.50 meters) and 10th in the discus (38.33 meters).
Junior Matt Collins finished eighth in the 400-meter dash (51.73), junior Pat Mead was 10th in the 1500-meter run (4:11.22) and Alexander was 10th in the long jump (5.96 meters).
The Bobcats return to the track next Saturday at the Juniata College Invitational.
