LYNCHBURG, Va. – Junior Morgan Carroll and sophomore Christina Smith combined for three top-five finishes to help guide the Frostburg State women’s track & field team to an eighth place finish at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Open at Lynchburg College, Saturday.

Carroll grabbed a pair of top-five finishes and qualified for the ECAC Championships as the Bobcats opened the outdoor season.

Carroll hit an ECAC mark and grabbed second place in the high jump at 1.61 meters. She finished third in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.54.

Smith competed in four events, but saved her highest finish for the javelin. She finished fifth in the javelin with a toss of 31.45 meters. She also added 14th in the hammer throw (23.29 meters), 18th in the shot put (9.41 meters) and 20th in the discus (24.74 meters).

Sophomore Bryn Allston earned 17th in the 800-meter run in 2:44.32.

Frostburg State returns to action next Saturday at the Juniata College Invitational.
