Bush & Carroll Combine For Four Wins at Bobcat Invitational

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State University women’s track & field team took full advantage of its only home meet of the 2013 season, posting four wins, three second-place showings and numerous top-five finishes at the Bobcat Invitational, Saturday.

Final Meet Results

Sophomore Alexis Bush and Morgan Carroll combined for four wins and a pair of second place finishes.

Bush won both the 100-meter dash (13.16) and long jump (5.29) and posted second in the 200-meter dash (27.09). Meanwhile, Carroll won both the 400-meter dash (60.04), just 0.04 seconds off an ECAC qualifying time, and the high jump at 1.52 meters.

Combined the tandem, helped the 4x100-meter relay team to a second-place finish in 51.63. Bush ran the first leg of the relay, while Carroll ran the fourth and final section (anchor). Freshman Trinette Barclift and Tierra Bryant ran the other two segments of the relay.

Carroll helped cap the running portion of the meet, aiding the 4x400-meter relay team to a fifth place in 4:40.70. She was joined by sophomores Gabbi Maher and Bryn Allston and freshman Kate Bickerstaff.

Individually, Maher was fifth in the 1,500-meter run (5:34.26), while Allston was sixth in the 800-meter run (2:35.57).

Sophomore thrower Christina Smith added a pair of top-five finishes. She was second in the javelin (30.41 meters) and fourth in the shot put (9.73 meters).

Frostburg State returns to the track this weekend at the Messiah Invitational & Multi Events.
