READING, Pa. – Rainy weather might have slowed down the ECAC South Region Softball Tournament on Saturday, but Frostburg State was unaffected on Sunday when play resumed.

A day after setting the school record for wins in a season, the Bobcats (32-12) knocked off host and top-seeded Alvernia (36-10) to advance to the ECAC Regional Championship Finals on Sunday morning. FSU and Alvernia were supposed to play late Saturday afternoon, but the game was moved to Sunday because of rainy conditions.

After falling behind 3-2 heading into the final two innings, Frostburg jacked a pair of two-run home runs in both the sixth and seventh innings for a 6-3 lead. Bobcat starter Mary Ann Moore struckout the game’s final two batters in the seventh and stranded two base runners to seal the victory.

The win was Moore’s 19th of the season and she will be going for win number 20 in the finals later this afternoon.

The Bobcats now await the winner of Alvernia and Stevenson in the finals that are slated to begin at roughly 2:00 pm.
