Trio Named To D3Baseball.com All-South Region; Kean First Team Honoree

FROSTBURG, Md. – D3baseball.com released its 2013 All-South Region teams on Thursday and Frostburg State had a trio of players selected. Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year Kevin Kean grabbed first team all-region honors, while Dylan Shupe was named to the second team and J.K. Filauro was placed on the team third team.

Kean, a junior from Millersville, Md., was one of three outfielders placed on the first team. He led the CAC and finished 29th in the country in batting average (.423). He also finished 30th among NCAA Division III players in on-base percentage (.506), 33rd in triples (5), 37th in slugging percentage (.662), 46th in total bases (94), 61st in runs (44) and 80th in hits (60).

A First Team All-CAC selection, Kean is seventh in FSU single-season history in hits and triples.

Shupe, a Second Team All-South Region catcher, finished 47th in the nation in doubles (16) and 83rd in slugging percentage (.611). A junior from DelMar, Del., Shupe was awarded First Team All-CAC honors after hitting .397 (52-for-131) with 30 runs, four home runs and 38 RBI.

Filauro, a Third Team All-South Region second baseman, capped his FSU career with a pair of postseason awards. The senior from South Salem, N.Y. was named to the All-CAC First Team a little over a week ago after finishing third on the team with a .389 batting average. He tied for the team lead in home runs (4) and finished fourth in total bases (65).

Filauro finished eighth in the nation in hit by pitch (19), seventh in hitch by pitch per game (.56) and 59th in on-base percentage (.489).

The Bobcats finished the 2013 season with a 25-15 overall record.
