Top 10: No. 8 - Field Hockey vs. Bridgewater

FROSTBURG, Md. - A feisty Frostburg State field hockey team earned a hard fought 2-1 win over Bridgewater (Va.) in the championship game of the FSU Tournament in early September. The exciting victory has this game at No. 8 in the countdown.

Let’s face it, the Bobcats simply wanted this one more.

Frostburg pestered Bridgewater from the opening whistle to the final horn for its second win in as many days. FSU posted a 2-0 win over Transylvania in the opening round on Saturday.

The Bobcats were outshot 12-11 and BC held a 12-2 edge in penalty corners, but neither statistic mattered. FSU didn’t let the Eagles take advantage of their opportunities.

With a 1-1 tie inside the final 10 minutes, Bobcat senior Alli Elliot buried the game winner in the back of the cage for what would be a 2-1 victory moments later at the final horn.

Junior Becky Randel assisted Elliott’s game winner, but opened the contest with a goal with just 45 seconds gone off the first half clock.

The Bobcats’ only real blemish on the day was allowing a loose ball to find the net at 8:50 in the first half.
