Top 10: No. 9 - Men's Track & Field - Bobcat Invitational

FROSTBURG, Md. - Seven wins and 30 top-five finishes is pretty darn exciting to see and that’s why the men’s track & field team makes the list at No. 9 in the countdown. FSU hosted the Bobcat Invitational in early April at a sun-drenched Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcats made it count in their only home action of the season as 10 different FSU student-athletes combined for the seven wins. Whether it was on the track or out at the throwing events, Frostburg was seemingly picking up victories everywhere.

Junior Matt Collins paced the men's squad with a total of three wins. Individually, Collins took home the 400-meter dash title in 50.91 and helped two relay teams to wins.

He opened relay action by helping the 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Charles Lyles, Greg Alexander and senior Jason Jackson to a win with an ECAC Championship time of 43.74.

Collins also aided the 4x400-meter relay team to a victory. In the meet's final track event, Collins joined freshman Sterling Hardy, sophomores Anthony Hayden and Devin Francillon for a win in 3:28.32.

Individually, Jackson took home a win in the 100-meter dash (11.49).

The Bobcats also posted three wins in the field events.

Senior Christian Smith took home a win in the shot put with a toss of 13.75 meters, while sophomore Seth Stine picked a win in the javelin with a distance of 51.89 meters. Freshman Michael Cronauer rounded out the wins with a first-place finish in the high jump (1.83 meters).
