Trio Of Bobcats Named USILA All-Americans

PERRY, N.Y. – A trio of Frostburg State men's lacrosse players were named as 2015 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III All-American Honorable Mentions, as announced by USILA Tuesday. They are the first All-Americans in the history of the men's lacrosse program.

Senior midfielder Chris Rios, senior defender Zach Burkhardt and junior goalkeeper Tom Kraemer all earned their first All-American honor as each was an integral part of the Bobcats' success in 2015.

A First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference selection and team captain, Rios finished third on the team with 52 points behind 28 goals and 24 assists and accumulated 51 ground balls.  He finished tied for eighth in the conference with 52 points. Rios is currently second all-time in the Frostburg State record books with 76 assists, tied for second with 209 ground balls, third with 166 total career points and fourth with 90 goals.

Burkhardt, a three-time team captain and three-time All-CAC selection, picked up 32 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers in 2015. He currently holds a program-best record with 121 caused turnovers and is seventh all-time with 152 ground balls to his credit. Burkhardt was recently named a 2015 USILA Scholar All-American.

In his first season as the Bobcats' main goaltender, Kraemer picked up 162 saves and 43 ground balls in 1,006 minutes played. The First Team All-CAC pick owns a slim 6.02 goals-against average for a single-season program-best 16 wins.

The Bobcats finished 2015 with a 16-3 overall record after starting the season 14-0, and were one of the only undefeated lacrosse teams in the nation at the time.

Rios, Burkhardt and Kraemer, along with the other Division III All-Americans, will be honored at the USILA All-America Awards Ceremony, held at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia on Sunday, May 24 at 10:00 am.
