WAVERLY, Iowa – Frostburg junior thrower JR Lowery competed in the first of his two events at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Friday afternoon at Wartburg College.
 
Lowery captured 19^th place out of 20 competitors after tossing his third attempt 14.72 meters (48ft. 3.5in.).
 
Lowery caps his spring campaign in the shot put with a total of four school records, an ECAC and CAC Championship, a First Team All-CAC award and the No. 1 ranking in the Mideast region.

He will compete in the hammer throw tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 pm. He enters the event ranked second in the Mideast Region and 16^th nationally. He is also looking to become Frostburg's first All-American in the event.
