Allison Short Named Academic All-District

FROSTBURG, Md. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2017 All-District Softball Teams on Thursday and Frostburg junior pitcher Allison Short was voted to the NCAA DIII Academic All-District 2 Team.
 
Short, a native of Hampstead, Md., carries a 3.92 grade point average with a major in athletic training. She has made the Dean's List in each of her five completed semesters at Frostburg and was voted to the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) All-Academic team three times.
 
In 2014-15, Short was named an All-America Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). She was named the conference's Rookie of the Year in 2015 and was selected to the All-CAC First Team in 2016 and 2017.
 
On the field, Short has been one of the top pitchers in the nation. She ended the 2017 campaign with 14 wins, 82 strikeouts and a 1.91 ERA. All of these marks ranked among the top three in the CAC.
 
Short currently ranks second in school history in wins (38) and fifth in strikeouts (224) heading into her senior season.
 
Frostburg finished 2017 with a 24-15 overall record and earned the second seed in the conference tournament.
 
The District 2 softball team consists of schools from Connecticut, Washington D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia. To be eligible for the COSIDA Academic All-America and All-District programs, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
