AUBURN, N.Y. – A Frostburg State baseball rally came up short on Wednesday night in an 11-8 loss to Susquehanna on the first day of the 2016 NCAA Division III New York (Auburn) Regional.

Susquehanna (30-14) plated eight runs in the first inning and Frostburg slowly chipped away at its deficit to pull within one at 9-8 in the eighth before suffering the loss.
The Bobcats (30-13) will now face regional host and top seed Cortland tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 pm. The contest will serve as an elimination game for Frostburg following tonight's loss to Susquehanna. The Red Dragons (38-5) defeated Castleton 14-4 earlier today.
The junior tandem of Cody Harman JT Tipton led the Bobcats offensively. Harman finished 4-for-6 with two runs scored, while Tipton was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Senior KJ Hockaday drove in two and posted two hits, while seniors Pat Sines and Jeremy Remalia each scored twice.
Susquehanna jumped out to an early 8-0 lead. The Crusaders posted two RBI singles and received a handful of bases loaded walks from FSU.
The Bobcats got their offense going in the second inning and scored at least one run in the next four innings to narrow the gap to 9-7.
Tipton plated the first two runs with a single up the middle in the second that scored Sines and Remalia. With two outs in the third, Hockaday doubled to left center, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored when senior Zach Keeler singled through the right side.
FSU further chipped away in the fifth with two more runs to cut the deficit to 9-5. Tipton walked and Harman singled through the left side before Hockaday singled to center scoring the duo.
In the sixth, Frostburg crawled to within 9-7. Tipton singled to right field that plated Remalia and senior Jamal Windom reached on a fielding error that scored Sines.
FSU pulled within one run in the bottom of the eighth with a single run when junior Brad Garrant scored Harman with an RBI ground out.
The Crusaders extended their lead in the top of the ninth when they homered to left field that pushed the score to 11-8. Dylan Jenkins smacked a 3-2 pitch over the right field fence for the homer.
Remalia led off the ninth with a double down the right field line and Tipton singled, but neither was able to score to set the final at 11-8.
Senior Logan Hunt tossed 8.0 innings in relief of starter Greg Schneider. Hunt tossed 85 pitches, struckout three and allowed just one earned run.
